Paintings
2026
This year, I'm starting to work more with palette knives and “Rückenfigur” portraits, especially my daughter gazing at a scene. Although lightness/darkness is still a recurring theme in my paintings, I'm branching out into peaceful scenes that capture a child's world in general, as well as embracing more simplicity and abstraction.

2025
I picked up painting in oil and acrylic in my late thirties as part of an art class starting in 2024. In general, I approached painting as a challenge to grow both my skills and emotional expression, choosing subjects I found intimidating so I could explore anxiety within the artistic process. In that spirit, in 2025, I began a series of paintings called Fear/Love that focused on personal portraiture, conflicting emotions, and lightness/darkness within art. Aside from that project and casual studies, I participated in an exhibition of skull paintings for a tzompantli (wall of skulls) in Mexico City.
